Venezuelan Miss Universe 2008, Dayana Mendoza, inaugurated the new holiday service of Garuda Indonesia Holiday in Jakarta on Friday (August 21st). Dayana also granted the privilege to be the first visitor of GIH website ww.garudaholidays.com and chose Bali as her preferred holiday destination. “Wow it’s Bali”, she expressed her enthusiasm when she clicked selected destination options from available list in the website.

During the inauguration ceremony, Dayana was accompanied by Indonesian Minister for Supervision of State-Owned Corporations Sofyan Djalil, Miss Indonesia 2008 Zivanna Letisha Siregar, and Chief Executive Officer of Garuda Indonesia Emirsyah Satar. Supported by more than 400 hotels, GIH is a holiday service company offering service to almost every holiday destinations in Indonesia and abroad. Specific holiday packages offered includes rejuvenation holiday, sports, adventures, honeymoon, and many others. Satar explained that the service managed by subsidiary of Garuda Indonesia, Aerowisata Jaya Perkasa (AJP), targeted to drive 2.5 million passengers to the national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia.

GIH is intended to be Garuda Indonesia’s way to put even more support on Visit Indonesia Year 2008 tourism campaign. Born in Caracas, Venezuela, back on June 1st 1986, saw Indonesia as a beautiful country. “I am very excited to be here, everything is just so beautiful”, said Dayana. Since her Miss Universe coronation, it was her first visit to Indonesia. Before the event she hast visited a few other cities like Jakarta and Palembang, all of which served by Garuda Indonesia. With regard to Garuda’s corporate performance, Sofyan claimed that it has gained significant improvement, however he admitted that it was still far away compared to competitors. “Singapore Airlines is too far ahead to compare, let’s realistically compared to local competitors at the first place”, said Sofyan.

However his ministry will always support every step taken by Garuda Indonesia for the sake of Indonesian tourism. In his vision, GIH with campaign motto of “The Easy Way to Your Dream Holidays” serves as a window for holiday makers to know Indonesia better through its provided holiday packages.
