November 30th, 2008

Whilst AIDS Elimination Commission (KPA) Denpasar has conduct a number of acitivities to prevent increasing cases of HIV/AIDS, the commission is expected to continuously increase its efforts in elimination and prevention of HIV/AIDS. The Major of Denpasar I.B. Rai Dharmawijaya Mantra expressed his expectation in his speech read by Head of Denpasar Health Office which also serves as the 3rd Chairman of KPA Denpasar, dr. Luh Sri Armini of the ceremony of World’s AIDS Day at Puputan Badung Square yesterday (Saturday, November 29th).

Furthermore Major Rai Mantra added that 95 percent of those infected with AIDS are in productive age, young generation which supposed to take over the future of the country. The statistic in AIDS infection recorded by the government is significantly lower than the real situation as HIV is quite difficult to detect - only detectable through blood laboratory test. With increasing threats Rai Mantra motivates every level of the community to deeply concern and take real effort to prevent AIDS.

Especially to young generation - the agent of change and the future of the country - Rai Mantra suggested to keep themselvestake control over their own life to protect themselves, their family, and their community for the danger of HIV/AIDS.Socialization by KPA Denpasar in collaboration with NGOs is quite strategic and has been adequately conducted. However the Major suggest that in the future involvement of the youth to be increased.
