Presentation of THK Tourism Awards and Accreditation 2008 will take place on Thursday (December 4th) at Ksirarnawa Hall of Bali Art Center, Denpasar. So far presentation of THK awards has brought positive impact to hotel industry. In addition to better business climate, almost all hotels which once received the award have never had internal problem. “There have been internal improvements in the hotels including harmonious relationship between the hotel and community of surrounding residents,” sand the Chairman of Organizing Committee of THK Tourism Awards, Berata Ashrama.

Additionally Ashrama concluded that award presentation has also brought positive impact to surrounding community. Hotels which have receive gold medal have obligation to manage tourism object. Hotels which have received emerald medal have obligation to help the poor within surrounding community to get housing. All hotels have obligation to foster poor children to get basic education. All of those reflected corporate social responsibility of the hotel industry.
Accompanied by the designer of THK Tourism Awards trophy Nyoman Mudita, Berata Ashrama said that whilst at the beginning the program was focused to hotel industry, it is now expanded to tourism objects including special enclave of Bali Tourism Development Center (BTDC).

Tourism has brought significant influence to the community. More than economy but also culture and politic. On the economic side tourism has contributed as much as 63 percent of domestic income of Bali. However tourism industry is very sensitive to various issues both internally and externally. There are also negative opinions that tourism has brought negative impact to local environment and cultural tradition. If these issues are not addressed properly, tourism will be affected which will immediately also affect economy. Therefore Bali Travel News introduced THK Tourism Awards to synchronize every components on Bali including the authority, tourism industry, and the community.

THK Trophy

Since the first time it was launched back in 2000, Nyoman Mudita has designed all trophies of THK Tourism Awards. Program ini pertama kali di-launching tahun 2000. For his creative contribution this year he will receive a certificate of appreciation as the designer of THK Tourism Awards trophies.

Winners of the award get gold, silver, and bronze medal consecutively. Those who receive gold medals for three consecutive years will get emerald medal. The event of presentation tomorrow will also include local food festival, painting exhibition by young painters, and handicraft exposition.
