A speed boat granted by the central government to the Social and Transmigration Office of Klungkung for devastation response has remained idle since it was received three months ago. The boat was still wrapped and parked at the office’s parking area. The boat has a capacity of 25 passengers with 40PK engine.

Head of Social and Transmigration Office of Klungkung, Gusti Lanang Mega Saskara admitted that the devastation response boat has not been operated. At the moment his office is looking for fishermen group who is prepared to to operate it as well as covering its operational cost. To cover the cost, operator will have a right to raise their own financing. Unfortunately so far no one has submit the proposal to operate the boat. “That’s why it is stil sitting out there”, he said.

Gusti Mega could not anwser the question whether the devastation response boat can be operated by the operator to fish. “Further discussion is needed for this”, he said. However he stressed on the requirement that the operator has to make the boat ready anytime it is needed.

Information collected by local media Bali Post said that the boat was delivered after Social and Transmigration Office of Klungkung propose for assistance of two mobile water tanks, one water treatment unit, and one rescue unit. Gusti Mega said that the central government has made positive response to the inquiry. “However we did not get any confirmation about which one and delivery schedule yet”, he added.
