Estuary next to Petitenget temple is geting worse by contamination. The water is now in yellowish green color and full of rubbish. Most possibly contaminants are dominated by fat disposed by restaurants in the area. There is also sediment of mud at the bottom of the estuary. It seems that all disposed fat is concentrated around the estuary.

Local residents believe that contamination was caused by negligent restaurant operators who dispose their waste directly to the river. Their suspicion is reasonable as they often see restaurants dispose their waste into the river at night, especially around midnight.

Leader of Petitenget Temple AA Bagus Tri Candra Arka admitted the strongs suspicion that contamination is caused by accumulation of waste disposal into the water by negligent restaurants. Therefore he expected the government to immediately pay attentin into the situation and take necessary action accordingly.

A member of the House of Representatives of Badung Regency, I Wayan Sandra has also expressed a serious concern about the issue, especially as surrounding area around the temple is used for religious purposes. Therefore he insisted the environmental bureau to conduct immediate assesment. “Expedited handling is essential, during dry season sedimentation is going to be worse”, he said.
