Police Doubles Security Screening of Gilimanuk
Following recent bomb explosions in Jakarta last week, police increase activity of stop and check along the route between Gilimanuk and Denpasar. Whilst security screening at Gilimanuk port itself was intensified, stop and check outside was considered important to double the security effort.
On Tuesday night, July 27th, stop and search operation was conducted under the command of Adjunct Commissioner Erwin Pratomo, was focused into four wheels vehicles such as cars, trucks, and coaches traveling Gilimanuk – Denpasar route. Objects to check were luggage, vehicle paperwork, and personal identity of passengers.
At the same time the tourism police force conduct sweeping to motels and hotels in Jembrana. Deputy Commander of Jembrana Police Headquarter, Commissioner IN Pawitra who supervised the operation explained that the operation was intended to anticipate dangerous goods and individuals carrying potential security threat. The operation will be continued until the situation considered conducive enough.
Operation commander, Adjunct Commissioner Erwin Pratomo explained that so far there has been no suspicious findings more than illegal taxis and other public transporters carrying passengers over from Java.
He explained that the operation was conducted regularly, not only by the regency police headquarter but also all district police offices. However so far there has been no suspicious evidence found. “Nothing more paperwork violations”, he said.
Meanwhile Jembrana Police Commander, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Ketut Suardana, explained that in addition to monitoring and screening at Gilimanuk port, stop and search and patrol operation were intensified. He also invited people’s involvement in increasing security protection. “Police could not work alone on its own, people’s involvement is essential especially in delivering information”, he said.
