Tourism Industry Needs Security Standard
The government of Badung Regency pays significant attention into the fact that there are many tourism related businesses neglected security standard. In recent meeting with hundreds of tourism related business entities, Regent of Badung, A.A. Gde Agung brought an idea to implement mandatory security standard for tourism accommodation facilities.
Regent Gde Agung exposed the weak security system in most accommodation facilities such as villas, hotels, motels, and also restaurants. Those who implement security system only do it at a minimum extent. Therefore Regent Gde Agung stressed the importance of standard security assessment as a prerequisite for license in Badung.
With regard to the issue, Head of Tourism Objects and Attractions, A.A. Raka Yuda said that security standard for tourism in Badung is directed into enforced mandatory standard. The standard is currently being socialized to related business entities. “At the moment we are in socialization process of security standard for 75 motels in Badung”, Raka Yuda said.
With regard to enforcement of the standard, Raka said that it will be implemented at the time of license proposal, both for new ones or renewals. There will be certain set of criteria, and every proposal will be subject to assessment by a team consists of tourism office, police headquarter, administrative police, and representative of neighboring community. “License will only be issued if the standard fully met”, he added.
