Handicraft industry in Bali is currently under strengthening pressures as result of global financial crisis and regional competition against new emerging producers such as Vietnam, Thailand, India, Malaysia, and China. Using traditional hand made production method, Bali is difficult to maximize production output compared to mass production supported by industrial technology implemented by competitors. Three Vessels Crashed at Bali Strait

Bad weather in Bali strait has caused two accidents involving three vessels serving the route between Gilimanuk port of Bali and Ketapang port of Java. The first accident took place at the landing craft machine (LCM) pier between landing craft tank (LCT) commanded by Eddy Baskoro and passenger ferry Pertiwi Nusantara commanded by Hermanto.
