Diving Operators Caught to Violate Regulation

Following application of the regional regulation (Perda) of the provice of Bali No. 7/2007 on providers of marine tourism facilities, Bali Tourism Office continuously monitors and applies law enforcement against marine tourism operators. Last week a joint team from the Provincial Government of Bali has conducted law enforcement strike in Buleleng Regency.

In result, five diving operator was caught to violate regulation. Part of them did not have license, which immediately meant operating illegally. The team forced them to sign a statement and allow them between three to six months to complete their paperworks.

The joint team consisted of tourism police, coastal police, high court of Bali, high attorney of Bali, association of marine tourism operators of Bali, Bali Environment Office, and Bali Tourism Office. Head of Management of Tourism Facility Operators Department of Bali Tourism Office, IGN Darma Arnawa said that monitoring and enforcement effort will continue. The first strike in Buleleng will be repeated to uncover marine tourism operators operating without licenses. “Our target is that all marine tourism operators operating in Bali have to have proper license”, Arnawa said.

He further informed that the first strike in Buleleng last week has resulted in five diving operators operated with inclomplete licenses. Some of them did not even have license at all. The vive violating companies were Spice Dive, Wisnu Dive Centre, Sunrise Dive, Malibu Lovina, and CV Permai Dive. The first two did not have license at all whilst the rest already held location approval and temporary license. “To those holding temporary license, we gave three to six months to complete their paperworks. We have advised them the procedure. If they remain in negligence, we will be compelled to bring them to the court of justice, just like what we have done in Krangasem recently”, he explained.
