Governor Repeats His Rejection of Villa Development at Dasong Forest
The Governor of Bali, Made Mangku Pastika is considering to repeat his letter addressed to the Minister of Forestry to reject the minister’s approval on villa development at Dasong forest. The plan comes up as so far the minister has not responded a letter on similar subject previously sent.
In a conference after attending public dialog event in Denpasar, Governor Pastika said that the provincial government of Bali has already sent two letter expressing similar rejection during administration of his predecessor, retired governor Dewa Beratha. Pastika said that rejection on development of about 400 luxury villas in Dasong forest is a firm decision and therefore the approval previously granted by the minister has to be revoked.
“Yes, we want it revoked. It stands against applicable laws. It stands against local regulations. It stands against Balinese traditional wisdom about holly areas”, Pastika said. Therefore he clearly stated he has all reasons needed to reject villa development project by PT Nusa Bali Abadi in Dasong forest.
He also pointed the fact that Bali is now running out of forest area, therefore anything affecting in loosing more forest should be rejected. Dasong forests is both water preservation area as well as holly area for Balinese. Therefore, whilst PT Nusa Bali Abadi has already held principal approval from the Minister of Forestry to lay out the project on 20.3 hectares of land within the forest area, the project should be canceled.
Actually those who want to own or just spend their Bali holiday in a private villa can either buy or rent one among hundreds of Seminyak villas. If they want to enjoy serenity of natural tropical forest, they can take a trekking or other adventure activities provided by many professionally managed operators in Bali.
