Parents Visiting the Governor
Full rejection is proposed by the parents related to the relocation of Jimbaran Deaf School into the formerly Balitex land at Tohpati Denpasar. Nowadays, those parents are still relying on Regency Council of People in Badung fights for their aspiration to the Government of Bali Province. If the struggle of those people representatives stopped, this problem will be proposed to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. As been asserted by one of the parents representative, Abu Sofyan in Jimbaran Deaf School on Tuesday (October 6th).
Numbers of student’ parents came to their children school yesterday waiting for the arrival of Bali Governor, Mangku Pastika. Since they heard information that the Governor would attended that school seminary. They want to hear clarification directly from the governor related to the relocation of that Deaf School. But until the seminary began the governor never showed up and they choose went home in the end.
The Headmistress of Jimbaran Deaf School, Dra. I Made Murdani, M.Pd. affirmed that she never invited the governor to attend the seminar that was facilitated by Rotary Club Nusa Dua. “We didn’t invite Bali Governor in this seminar. In this seminar, Rotary Club brought environment expert from Swiss to give workshop to the teachers and students in that school,” she said.
Respect Commitment
Abu Sofyan asserted that his party responded positively to Bali Province Governor for their commitment to improve their educational service quality for disability children. But the realization of that commitment doesn’t means such relocation for Jimbaran Deaf School since the education quality of this school is improved from steadily. “If the governor is seriously care about the education of disability children, it will be better if the governor focus on the improvement of educational service and accommodation in Jimbaran Deaf School. Instead of relocating school location that is the condition of that place is uncertain,” said Abu Sofyan together with Edwin.
Either Abu Sofyan or Edwin confess that they have no problem with the establishment of Disability Children School planned by the Bali Province Governor at the formerly Balitex location in Tohpati Denpasar. That program can be continued without relocating Jimbaran Deaf School. Means that the provincial government establishes that facility for generalize the opportunity for disability children to gain education that he certain was not equal yet. In other word, that school which will locate in Tohpati can prioritize to serve disability children in Denpasar, Gianyar and any other location on the east. Meanwhile, Jimbaran Deaf School can still operate to give education service for disability children in Badung, Tabanan and around that area. “If Jimbaran Deaf School is relocated, then where would be the children in Badung should go, whereas the only one school for disability children was in here? If they have to be force to the much far away school into Denpasar, I assure you there will be so many students who stop going to school,” affirmed Edwin.
The headmistress of Jimbaran Deaf School, Ni Made Murdani, explained that her school now has 222 active students where 65 percents of them are deaf or mute and for the rest of them are mentally retarded and autism. From 222 students, 56 percents of them comes from Badung. “We have dormitory accommodating 100 students. Generally, students outside Badung lived in dormitory, and students from North Kuta and around it doesn’t live in the dormitory,” she said and add that students from Badung like from Abiansemal and Petang also live in that dormitory.
