Gumang Hill Get Eaten by the Investor

After Mimba Hill, now the west Hill of Gumang Hill, Bugbug, Karangasem is broken off to build villas. The villas is belong to Dutch investor where the building itself spoiled the environment and infringe the religious rule. It was revealed in DPRD Karangasem –Regional Public Council of Karangasem- on Tuesday (October 27th).

I Nyoman Sadra, B.A. in that meeting was asking for the authorization of that villa. If there was an authorization then why it is approved while at that slope of the hill still speculated as the holy area of Gumang Temple.

Whereas, the chief of Regional Development Department in Karangasem, I Wayan Artha Dipa, S.H. said that his party didn’t know yet regarding to the authorization of that villas building. “Authorization problem according to those villas is belonging to the Head of Integrated Authorization,” he said.

Sadra regretting the advance of those villas is built by breaking off the hill and flattened it. That cost nature beauty and preservation and triggers protests from several foreigners who are nature lovers and stay in the area of Candidasa tourism area. “If it is seen to the east from Candidasa beach, those villas can be seen clearly,” he affirmed.

Other Council member, Nengah Suparta, said that two from six villas building had been fixed. He assumed that the authorization to build villa had been that investor’s hand.

Sadra also added, before inaugurate as the council member he had once asked to the local government regarding to the villas development on Tenganan Hill which is belong to foreign investor. That investor even built 80 meters on the top of the hill. Even this thing had been reported to the local government, but the development of that building keep continued. Whereas, the local citizen get worried with the development of bore well up the hill will cause negative effect for people on the valley like the decreasing of water volume or even worse it will get dry and in fact the water volume which flows through river in Tenganan until Nyuh Tebel decreased makes there is no water for irrigation.

He assessed that there will be no land left for Balinese since it will under the hand of foreign investor. While the land close to the beach also undergone the same situation. As soon as it is on the investor’s hand, people wouldn’t know what they do inside of it.
