Badung – Denpasar Disputing Border Line Area

Long time unheard, the issue of border line area between Badung regency with provincial capital town, Denpasar is appeared once again. Today, that is concerning to the border line area at Griya Anyar Street Kuta with Pemogan Village of Denpasar. It is assumed that Denpasar had eaten a territory which in fact was part of Badung administrative area.

From the disputing location at Griya Anyar Street or precisely beside the temple of Griya Anyar Tanah Kilap Pemogan, Denpasar, it is indeed there is provincial boundary marker which state that the west area of Tukad Badung is part of Badung territory. Strangely at the west of Tukad Badung – Badung River – which is part of Badung area, appeared boundary markers stating the area as part of Pemogan territory of Denpasar.

Member of DPRD Badung as well as Kuta’s society figure, AA Anom Gumanti justified the assumption o taking over Badung’ territory happened at Griya Anyar street where it is considered as the border line area between Denpasar and Badung, on Wednesday, December 2nd his party had examined that disputing area.

“Badung party who attended this examination is village head of Kuta area and people representatives. From that examination is known that the territory which in fact part of Badung area had been marked by Glogor Carik village with their Pemogan marking area of Denpasar. “Whereas in that location there was a legal mark from Bali’s Public Labour Institution as for the ownership of Badung territory area but why our land marked by Denpasar,” he said.

From those examinations, Anom said that territorial boundary between Denpasar and Badung in that area had clear enough that is the east part of Tukad Badung includes within it is Pemogan village considering as Denpasar territory while on the west is Badung area. “This accordance with SK Governor,” as he said without specified which SK he talked about.

Anom wish for this problem finished soon by the two parties. Because it could triggers other problem in the future. “What we fear most if this problem entering adat territory – local cultural law – that’s why, together with Provincial Public Labour Department, we will soon conducted continuation meeting,” he explained.

He also adds that with our current problem related to the citizen issue where people who formerly can manage their identity in Badung is rejected nowadays and has been asked to manage it in Denpasar.

Meanwhile, Kuta Area Head, Gede Supartha still didn’t want to give any comment. But he acknowledged there is really a border issue in his territory. “Problem concerning territorial border between Denpasar and Badung is still discussed. If there is another continuation meeting, we will inform it,” said Supartha.

Meanwhile from Denpasar party itself has not yet confirmed anything about that border issue either from Assistant I Pemkot Denpasar, I Ketut Nick Natha Wibawa or from Kabag Humas – Public Relation Head Division – Erwin Suryadarma, they still cannot be confirmed though had been contacted through cell phones but it were inactive.
