The Majority of Fishing Tournament Participants Failed
Tabanan Regent, Nyoman Adi Wiryatama succeeded to catch 2.3 kilogram fish which as well as lobster in Tabanan fishing competition on Sunday, December 13th. “Tabanan Regent Cup of Ocean Fishing Tournament 2009” held at Yeh Ganga Beach was precisely located at Sudimara Village, Tabanan Bali. From those 317 participants, its few of them be able to catch the fish in the ocean.
For about 308 fishermen with 108 boats went to the nine points departed from some fishermen bases and had to fight with nine professional anglers who get incorporated on six boats or teams and fighting over motorcycle as its door prize.
Tabanan Regent, N. Adi Wiryatama who was accompanied with the committee head, I Ketut Arsana Yasa as well as the head of Tabanan Fishery and Marine Department, I Nyoman Ariwangsan at Yeh Ganga Beach were escorting the participants.
After five hours, the participants went back to the beach, but merely few of them who brought fish; one of them was the regent himself with 2.3 kilogram of fish and a lobster.
”Finally I caught fish and lobster. In last year competition, I got nothing,” said Wiryatama.
When closing the competition, Wiryatama confessed that he was proud with the increasing numbers of young fishermen in Tabanan. Where it can be seen from most of the participants in traditional category were young fishermen.
”Nowadays lot of young generation becoming fishermen. This is very encourages us since these youth will becomes our hope in the future in utilizing the optimization of Tabanan fishery and marine,” he said.
Through this fishing tournament, said Wiryatama, the fishermen society could be more love and protect the sea as well as maintaining the beach and sea environment preservation.
Thus make that potential could be utilized optimal and sustainable.
The regent also conveyed his pride toward this year competition since the committee could hold this kind of event without asked any fund from APBD – Regional Expense Budget –
From the professional category result the winner goes to I Wayan Suastika for his success caught fish belong to mackerel species for about 23 kilogram in weight. The second winner was goes to Ketut Bambang Suaya with 11.5 kilogram fish.
Meanwhile for the third winner was Putu Subawa with his 9.5 kilogram fish. Those winners were come from Seseh, Mengwi Badung.
For traditional category joined by the fishermen, the first winner with outboard engine as its prize was goes to Mina Samudra from Selabih, West Selemadeg who succeeded in catching 10.5 kilogram fish.
The second winner was Sudimara from Dharma Murti Group of Yeh Gangga who got boat with his two 5.5 kilogram fishes. The third winner goes to Segara Nadi II from Pasut Kerambitan who succeeded in catching 4.1 kilogram fish and deserve with one set of trolling fishing equipment.
While, the door prize for a motor cycle which become participants main target in the end attained by the participant with chest number 169 was I Ketut Sueda from Pasut Kerambitan.
