Ngurah Rai Airport and Soekarno Hatta Jakarta will become the first project pilot for tax refund applied in 2010. Since the tax refund paid by the foreigner who visits Indonesia is intended for the payment of Value Accumulation Tax and the project itself will be applied on April 2010 according to the Bill No 42 2009 about Selling Tax or Luxury Goods Tax.

According to the plan, Soekarno Hatta Airport in Jakarta will become the first airport applying tax refund followed by I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali. “The government still couldn’t prepare fully the tax refund for all airports. But in 2010 merely Jakarta and Bali that has already suggested by the Finance Minister and Dirjen Pajak – Tax Directorate General –” said the chief of Sub Direktorat Perpajakan I, Dirjen Pajak, Hestu Yoga Saksama when socialize Bill No 42 years 2009 about Value Accumulation Tax and Luxury Sales Tax at Mercure Ancol Hotel in Jakarta on Saturday December 19th.

But, Hestu continued that the application of tax refund in Bali also has not final yet, it still uncertain. “Merely Jakarta that has been settled so Bali can wait for its turn,” he add.

Directorate General of Tax also planned to cooperate with Tourism Department in order to invite them actively socialize the tax refund. This tax refund continued Hestu, is applied so the tourism world in Indonesia will not lose in competition with other foreign tourism especially those which close. With this tax refund application, Indonesia hopes for reducing competitive distance with Singapore.

At the same place the head of DPR-RI – Council – Budgeting, Harry Azhar Aziz insisted for the government immediately applied this tax refund. “Only Indonesia that is not set this kind of regulation yet, if this Bill 42 could be valid on April 2010 then there will be no problem at all since the rule has been clear already,” he said. He wished for the government could immediately realize that tax refund in the near future.
