No Balinese Architecture Ruko

Bali’s spatial observer, Ir. Putu Rumawan Salain judged that house and shops or ruko – house store – in Bali, especially in Denpasar not using Bali architecture concept anymore.
“Few of those house-stores in Denpasar that used Bali architecture, especially with the front wall ornament of those buildings,” said Putu Rumawan Salain in Denpasar yesterday Monday.
He said that several buildings along Protocol Street of Denpasar City, its architecture design had been replaced by the modern architecture.
“With this development, without we realize it sooner or later Bali’s architecture will be lost by the age advance,” said Rumawan who also a architecture lecture at Technique Faculty of Undayana University.
According to him, regional government should not giving any authorization to build store-house without any Bali architecture addition on it. They who run this business will move according to the local regulation.
“If the constructor is not in agreement with the license application then the government should react firmly toward this problem. Because after the building has been finished constructed it usually inappropriate with the license that is used Bali’s architecture,” he said.
Rumawan give an example for instance with the buildings along Jalan Gatot Subroto which merely few of them used Bali’s architecture. Don’t talk so high about using Bali architecture design whilst in fact they didn’t put merely the unique ornament styles.
“If this kind of development keep remain then our proud concerning cultural city will remain as a dream. What is the different with visiting other big cities when you only saw high and modern building,” he said.
That’s why, he said, in the future the government should reviewed back, construction regulation in Bali should required Bali architecture, including spatial development thus make Bali atmosphere can be felt more.
“I think if the government serious in handling and arranging their store buildings then Concept of Bali architecture shop-store is note impossible at all. We have lot of Bali architectural experts here,” Rumawan said.
