ATM burglary happened in Bali recently caused varied responds from the Bank customers. There are people who immediately change their PIN code but lot of them went straightly extracted their saving fund. Besides there are also people whom suddenly transferring or in other word open a new account.

Meanwhile, from the police party itself also work hard handling this case. Besides attempting to catch the perpetrators, they also tracked the burglary modus operandi that happened for the first time in Bali. As for the headquarter also straightly intervene with this case and get cooperate with the local police in Bali.

The bank party also did not want to less their agile. Several banks have already installing CCTV at their ATM. Not merely in Bali, several big banks in Jakarta also installing CCTV as anticipation act.

Kapoltabes Denpasar – Head of capitol city Police – Kombes Pol. I Gede Alit Widana on Thursday (January 21) yesterday said that they still observe deeply this case. Considering the number of victims who came reporting their lost to Poltabes Denpasar, Kapoltabes Alit Widana said that there were 14 people with number of losses were Rp 522.3 million. In contrary with the information gotten from Polda Bali, the victim who came to report to Poltabes Denpasar was 18 people. Meanwhile, those who report to Polda Bali was five people.

Alit Widana explained, ATM burglary case is suspected conducted with old modus. Studying from the old cases happened before, the perpetrator is suspected installing chip and spy cam at the ATM. The chip could copying the magnetic data in every ATM card while the spy cam installed in the ATM would track the victim’s PIN code. With this spy cam, the perpetrator could see the recording of when the victims pressed their PIN number.

After they got the PIN, they will create new ATM card or the duplicate for illegal transaction. Easily, they will drained the victims money in their saving. “That what we suppose to be happened for now. For more clear information, off course we need further investigation,” he explain.

What was the police steps in solving this case? He said that they would mobilize their officers then tracking the ATM machine suspected to be installed with the burglary’s tools. It certainly that the police will coordinated with the Bank who become the burglary victim. In relation with this case, the police had already investigated 20 witnesses, either the victim or the bank party itself.
