Gianyar regional government decided to control the development of tourism supporter facilities such as villa and hotel. Especially in tourism objects area like Ubud.
This decision is part of brake over land function shifting as well as balancing supporting potential with the region capacity potential.
Gianyar Regent, Cok Oka Sukawati after Catus Pata Police Office inauguration in Ubud Gianyar (February 4) said the decision to restrict tourism facilities development is in order to conducting tourism supporting facilities arrangement, especially in term of authorization. Moreover, based on an observation conducted, it is proved that most villas in Gianyar do not have authorization.
“It is not because they did not want to manage the license but they collide with authorization administration procedure. Whereas, they are really want to have an authorization,” said head of PHRI Bali.
Gianyar Regent, Cok Oka Sukawati mentioned that according to the data in Gianyar Regent, there are 200 villas in his regency and almost 60 percent of them do not have authorization. Whilst, the number of hotels in Gianyar reached 10 stars hotels.
