YLPK: PLN Should Give 10% Compensation

February 6th, 2010

Yayasan Lembaga Perlindungan Konsumen (YLPK) – consumer protection institution foundation – insist for Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) – State Electricity Company – to give compensation to their consumer especially for those small-medium entrepreneur and household costumer due to the rotating black out happened in Bali.

YLPK even regretted that rotating blackout that was not run according to the schedule in the end gave bad effect to the small entrepreneur such as internet rental service went through loss.

Executive Director of YLPK Bali, Putu Armaya in his statement at Denpasar on Friday (February 5) asserted that PLN should give 10 percent compensation from the subscription fee (basic electricity rate) to the consumer according to the Director General of Electricity and Energy Utilization decree. That decree makes compensation given to the consumer from PLN need no decree from President.

“Perhaps PLN forgetting that decree but we continue demand for the compensation considering there is more than 300 hours blackout this month,” said Putu Armaya.

Executive Director of YLPK Bali, Putu Armaya confessed that the compensation delivery to the consumer as a result of that blackout should be done since a long time ago by PLN concerning the average hours of that black out had been more than 10 hours in a month instead of conducting blackout three days in row.

Armaya admitted that only during December last year YLPK received for about 800 complaint from consumers related with this PLN rotating blackout.
