STB Design under Revision
Environment condition curiosity made commission III DPRD Bali turnaround in the working of toll bridge Serangan – Tanjung Benoa design. Comission III asked for the design revision since it is feared would damage marine biota at Serangan Island.
The technical work and STB (Serangan-Tanjung Benoa) design valued for 1.2 billion rupiah admitted by the vice of Commission III, Gusti Ngurah Suryantara Putra at Bali Council on Friday (March 5). Suryanta or known as Seno adjusted the revision is taken especially for the bridge pole installation. Seno said that previously the want to install the bridge pole with reclamation as it will be the location where the bridge pole stand. Commission III had asked to the Korean investor to change the design with direct drilling into the bottom of the sea.
“Our consideration is toward the surrounding environment. Marine biota could die and damage if we keep with our reclamation plan. If the pole goes straight into the depth of the sea then then we could minimize the damage,” said Seno.
According to this politician, if they followed the original plan, to set the pole on the sea they should conducting reclamation on the sea still this kind of method cost wide sea area. “The shells and other sea biota would die besides it could bring about abrasion too. If with straight drilling technology where the pole plugged directly into the sea, it will be more environmentally friendly. No need for reclamation area and the newest technique is the same with artesian well technique,” Seno said firmly while get accompanied by the member of commission III, Gusti Lanang Bayu Wibhiseka.
According to him also, the quality of the bridge would not affected. It will remain has 45.919 meter of height, no change at all. “This bridge will remain strong as strong as the other bridge ever built in Indonesia. Suramadu Bridge also used the same technique and we also had asked the investor when there was last verifying,” Seno asserted.
Besides technical work revision this project also will has new design since commission III rejected the old design. The design will has no bending at the body of the road since it is not good for a bridge has bend. Meanwhile, Comission III is still looking for the position area passed by the bridge. Still, the land needed for this project belongs to PT BTID (Bali Turtle Island Development). “Our target is this project to begin iin 2011,” said Seno.
