The decreasing of tourists’ length of stay haunted the development of tourism in Badung. The trend for today’s tourism is short stay. The data showed that length of stay at 8.32 percent or averagely seven to eight days only. This number get decrease in which 2009 it only reached ten days. It is feared that that condition could reduce number of local income.

“This is the effect for global crisis in Europe. It has effect in the length of stay still, in another hand, number of visiting rate is increase. Nowadays visitors viewed, as long as they could come to Bali, length of stay can be reduced,” said head of Badung Tourism Agency for promotion and Marketing Division, I Dewa Made Sumitra when met on Sunday (March 28).

Data gained from NusaBali from Disparda Badung, tourists visiting in the beginning of January this year are 168.923 people or 7.57 percent. if it is compared with the same period last year, it was 164.643 people, increase for 4280 people or 2.60 percent. Moreover, Sumitra continued that his party will keep conducting development and promotion. According to him, there has been series of innovations. Target for tourists visiting this year is quite high. In addition to it, there is issue toward the anxiety for level of security in Bali.

Tourist visiting target get increase compared with last year visiting could reach up to 200 thousand. Last year, the number of visiting reached 2.229.945 tourists. Sumitro added the target will be fulfilled with lots of conditions. They are security, budget preparation, service from the tourism actors and sharper promotion. Besides there is also cooperation with various parties also needed, in addition to the alternative tourism objects that could attract the tourists to stay longer in Badung.

For promotion, countries targeted for it are potential countries regularly visited Bali, such as Australia, Japan, China, Korea and India as well as Europe. From the tourists visiting data, Australia placed the first with 44.366 people, followed by Japan with 19.282 people, PRC for 15.846 people, 10.487 as for Taiwan and South Korea 10.239 people.

Length of stay crisis had already happened before in Bali. data in commission IV Bali council mentioned that tourists visiting in Bali raised 18.26 percent in 2009 instead of length of stay decreased took place. In 2008, tourists’ length of stay in Bali reached 13 days. In 2009 decreased to 8 days per day. Meanwhile, there is still no confirmation toward the decrease of stay rate in Bali has any relationship with even distribution to others tourism objects in Indonesia conducted by Cultural and Tourism Ministry.

Still, number of tourists come to Indonesia per January 2010 raised for two percent if it is compared with January 2009. “Data we got from Central Statistic Department, number of foreign tourists in January 2010 indeed had raised for two percent,” said Minister of Cultural and Tourism Department, Jero Wacik on Saturday (March 27).
