Ubud Establish 1 Ha Central Parking Area
A plan to develop central parking area anticipating traffic jam in Ubud appears to be realized. Gianyar Provincial Government will establish central parking area immediately on one-hectare land area. It takes place on a land belongs to the State behind the Police office and part of Agricultural Training Center Office at Banjar Ambengan, Peliatan Village, Ubud.
According to the information gathered by NusaBali on Wednesday (July 28), the proposal for central parking establishment has been in the hand of Gianyar Provincial Government. It has been measured the Land Section through coordination with Land Section of Gianyar Regional Secretariat. The result showed that the land belong to the government is merely 78 acre so they need addition of 30 acre of land belong to the local people. According to some people in Ubud, central parking is a vital need for Ubud tourism industry. It is the biggest solution to avoid traffic jam in Ubud. “If we could realize central parking I assure you that Ubud would not so full like today,” said one of the tourism worker industry, I Wayan Roja.
Meanwhile, on yesterday Wednesday, Gianyar Regent, Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati or Cok Ace, accompanied by Head of Gianyar Police Office, I Wayan Kujus Pawitra, District Secretary, Head of Ubud Police Office, Danramil and Head of Ubud area were observing the traffic in Ubud. That group observing the traffic from Peliatan Street, Cok Sudarsana Street, Gautama Street, Monkey Forest Street and end at Catus Pata Ubud. It is proved that Ubud traffic is high. Cok Ace instructed to the related party, Police, Transportation Agency, Police Civil Service, Community Empowerment Institution and tourism industry workers to coordinating the arrangement and order in Ubud.
“It is due to the number of traffic regulation violation for instance, several roads, sidewalk as the parking area,” he said. When asked about the central park development plan, Cok Ace confessed that they had measured the land of the State behind Ubud Police Office up too Agricultural Training Center office at Banjar Ambengan, Peliatan. Or around 1 km from Catus Patha/Ubud central city.
His party confessed that they still lack 30 acre of land in order to fulfill one hectare central parking area.
“According to our assessment with the management investor of this central parking area, the land needed for this project is more than one hectare. The establishment will begin n 2011 and start to operate in 2012,” he explained.
His party is also assessing Head of Bali police in relation with the removal of Ubud Police Office to another place. It is due to the police office in Ubud would become the gate for in and out central parking area.
As been known before, one factor caused traffic jam in Ubud is the increasing of flow of vehicles to Ubud. It especially happened during the high season for both domestic and foreign tourists visiting Bali. In another side, infrastructure and service improvement for road as well as its parking area do not follow the vehicle rising in Ubud.
