Center of Bali-Nusra Regional Environmental Management belongs to Ministry of Environment recommended Bali Governor to give limitation for underwater utilization by hotel businesses in Bali.

This recommendation was delivered following the intimidating water deficit threat in Bali. Moreover, several coastal areas in Bali started to go through seawater intrusion.

Head of Central Regional Bali-Nusra Environmental Management, Sudirman, in his statement in Denpasar (August 2) said that Bali really need clear limitation for underwater utilization since the island has limited underwater production. Even if it is needed, the limitation can be organized under legal local regulation.

Besides, there is also a requirement for every hotel to conduct wastewater processing and reuse that processing water. “3R implementations need to be emphasized again among hotel people including the use of water,” Sudirman explained.

Head of Central Regional Bali-Nusra Environmental Management, Sudirman, also said that Bali from now on should have already started to calculate the bearing supported and capacity ability especially for underwater utilization.

Before, there is a report from Ministry of Environment showed that Bali has gone through water deficit since 1995 for around 1.5 billion meter cubic per year. That deficit keeps increasing up to 7.5 billion meter cubic in 2000.

Meanwhile, the Hydrology Environment Research Program of Udayana University Postgraduate study for Environment Science, Nyoman Sunarta predicting that in 2015 Bali will having clean water deficit up to 27.6 billion meter cubic per year.
