Sanur Modern Traditional Market Inauguration
Sindhu Market, one of the traditional markets in Sanur Bali was renovated and arranged in a modern atmosphere as the tourism supported accommodation planned to be inaugurated by Minister of Commerce, Mari Elka Pangestu.
Denpasar Mayor, I.B Rai Dharmawijaya Mantra, on Tuesday observing that market in order to know it readiness for the inauguration conducted by Minister of Commerce scheduled on Wednesday (August 4) in accordance with the opening of Sanur Village Festival (SVF) 2010.
Although he had given some suggestions for the market development, Mayor Rai D. Mantra feels satisfied with the readiness of that market for its inaugurated event as he frequently come to this market like when he ride his bicycle to have a few body exercise in the morning.
He viewed the traditional market with modern atmosphere that is also paid attention to the cleanliness and arrangement will richening Sanur and could stand as one of the supporting object for Sanur tourist attraction.
Head of Sanur Developing Foundation, Ida Bagus Gede Sidharta Putra who welcoming the Mayor says that in order to protecting the existence of traditional market in the middle of modern market interference, good arrangement is needed in order to attract people, including the tourists to take a shop.
“Together with the trader of this traditional market, we finally able to compete with the modern market gradually growth like mushroom nowadays,” said Gusde, I.B Sidharta Putra familiar name, he was accompanied by head of Sindhu market, Made Sudana.
In the event that is also attended by the secretary for Denpasar City, A.A.N. Rai Iswara together with several other officials, it is explained that Sindhu market rebuild used the fund comes from the traders and from Sanur Development Foundation.
The arrangement divided into three, which is morning market selling varied of vegetables and another household needs, art market which offers varied of art productions including souvenir and food court with varied of food open until evening.

According to the direction from Denpasar Mayor, the existence of Sindhu market with modern atmosphere hope could become one example for the arrangement of other markets in Denpasar as well as could erase slum impression that for all along identical with traditional market.
Made Sudana, furthermore explained that the market development sit on 51 acre of alnd or 5.100 meter cubic had spent 3.5 billion Rupiah and able to accommodate 361 traders that most of them are local people.
From that amount, 150 trader are accommodate in loose building, 78 of them are traders of different needs, including art and souvenir, the remaining are seasonal trader, such as those who are selling for foods.
“Traders arrangement according to the stuff they sell could make the visitor or the consumer easy to buy what they needs, beside it also could support the effort in maintaining the market cleanliness,” Sudana said.
Loose building at Sindhu market divided into three, Loose A dedicated to traders selling for religious ceremony supplies and fruits, loose B for basic needs trader and hawkers, meanwhile for the loose C is for meat traders.
Each loose has three-trash bin dedicated to organic, plastic and food leftover respectively. “This method perhaps the first installed in Indonesia, waste management in a market that applied exactly the hotel waste management,” he said.
