Australia’s Travel Advisory
Australian government through its Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s/DFAT gives travel advisory to their people in Bali. The Australian government worrying their people could be the victim of taxi chaotic happened recently in the island. That statement as released by adelidenow.com.au and news.com.au on Thursday (August 5) yesterday.
Australian Foreign Affairs and Trades Department stated that even though the chaos did not targeting the passenger, the chaos could turn into an action of destruction or forcefully asked the tourists get out from their taxi, which could bring harm to the passengers. “That incident is rarely to be happened and they also did not targeting the passenger specifically, but please be careful. If you are trapped in a confrontation between taxi drivers, try to leave the taxi and escape to a safe place,” said Australian Foreign Affairs and Trades Department.
DFAT also warned their people to avoid contact with dog, cat, monkey and other animal in Bali due to the continuous rabies disease.
Head of Bali Tourism Board (BTB) I.B. Ngurah Wijaya understands the Australian government anxiety to protect their people. Moreover, when there is many Australian people used taxi or rent car while in Bali. “That warning becomes a good suggestion for Bali to overcome immediately the problems happened in this island that makes Australian government worrying for it,” he said firmly.
He hope for the government could deal with the taxi problem in Bali. If we did not take serious concern toward this problem, it could damage Bali image as world tourism destination. Besides, Bali should standardize their transportation facilities through clear regulation which protecting the consumer, especially tourists who are staying in Bali.
Head of Bali Tourism Affair Agency, I.B. Kade Subhiksu stated that the issue or reaction toward event happened in Bali need no big exploitation. He viewed that the condition in Bali nowadays is far better than several months before. Even though, he realized that Bali as the center of tourism in Indonesia is have quite high sensitivity. “We urge all party to maintain the security and convenient in Bali,” he said.
