BKSDA Bali keeps Investigating Siong Forest’s Tiger
Badan Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BKSDA) – Natural Resource Conservation Institution – team until today keeps investigating the existence of tiger in Siong Forest in Nagasari Village of Lumbung Kauh, Selemadeg District, Tabanan.
According to BKSDA party, the evidences found around the location where goat and dog belong to the local people attacked could not prove that the bite marks were from tiger.
Even with some people confession that they saw it directly, still cannot be used as a strong basis for concluding the animal was a tiger.
It confessed by Sumarsono, head of territorial section I BKSDA Bali, on Monday (August 9th).
Sumarsono who supervise Denpasar to Gilimanuk area added that several steps has been done in order to conveyed the existence of the tiger. Among them was measuring the trace found on location.
“The traces found on location are not enough for us to conclude that it was a tiger,” he explained.
Evidence such as the tiger’s fur was not found, therefore it still need times to finally conclude it.
His party has coordinated with social institution in East Java who had conduct observation about Java Tiger before.
“We’d like also to re-open the files about Bali tiger existence that extinct already in 1937,” he said.
In relation with the release of cub conducted by BKSDA party just like the circulated information, Sumarsono stated that he’d like to see the existed archives.
“We still re-open the files, is there any cub release just like the information revolve,” he added.
His party also would see also the location directly in order to conduct further investigation.
“It possibly for the next two days ahead, we will go to the location again and added the evidences,” he said.
