Subak Buleleng Proceeds to National Competition
Subak Poh Asem from Mayong Village, Seririt District of Buleleng Regency proceeds to the national farmer association of water user in Surakarta, Middle Java, from August 27 to 23, 2010.
Head of Buleleng Culture and Tourism Agency, Putu Tastra Wijaya in Singaraja, on Friday said that Subak Poh Asem was chosen to be Bali candidate in that competition after came out as the first winner in Bali Provincial Subak Competition 2010.
“Subak Compeition and Subak Abian of Bali Provincial level is part of annual activity that could bring benefits for all people,” he said.
According to him, through that subak competition, the people would know straightly the application of Tri Hita Karana concept (maintaining balance relationship with God, nature and among humans) at that village together with the potential they have.
“The competition pointing the subak in it effort increase agricultural production in order to raise farmers’ income and welfare,” he said.
Meanwhile, I Ketut Warkadea who would lead the group of subak from Bali explained that the P3A competition aimed subak development and preservation as a place for farmer empowerment in improving their ability.
“For this year competition, Buleleng Regency is optimist able to sit at big five seat of national competition since Subak Poh Asem is supported by organized institution, irrigation system maintenance as well as financing system in managing water utilization,” he said.
Meanwhile, Buleleng Regent, Putu Bagiada when set off that Bali subak delegation whilst conveying his proud toward the local farmer succeed.
“Subak presence is important in increasing farmer production as well as raising the farmer quality of life. That is why we invite all society’s element to keep race in performance in order to lift the pride of Buleleng and Bali,” he said.
