Theft of Yeh Embang Sand Flared

May 11th, 2012

Thefts of sand at Yehembang coastal area, Mendoyo District, lately flare up once again. This action was done at night until very early in the morning, to avoid officers. As far as there are still trucks or pick-up cars transporting the sand, even dare to get too close to the beach.

The officers keep receiving report toward that thievery. According to information received yesterday Thursday, in one night at least, three trucks get down to the beach. Due to this condition, local, who care with environment, in the morning reported it to officials. That citizen has caught the perpetrators when they transported the sand.

One of the citizen Banjar Pasar Yehembang Village, I Wayan Jana justify since a month ago there were sand thieveries continuously happened in that area. According to him, the real culprit was not local but coming from other area. Head of Jembrana Civil Service Police Putu Widarta when received that report directly ordered officials to go to the site coordinated with Mendoyo Police.

However, once they arrived at the destination point, the police were not as fast as the perpetrator. The officers did not found anything except rut of truck wheel. Putu Widarta confessed that they were not as fast as the culprit was.

It is since the distance was far away from the office to the scene of crime. This condition becoming the problem for officers makes them go to scene of crime while the culprit has escaped. However, his party will increase their supervision and control around the beach. Civil Services Officer would also commit to suppress any small act involving sand theft. It was fear that the act would cause harm to the environment.
