Catching pig race held in Niti Praja Field, Lumintang, Denpasar on Sunday morning as it was attracting local people attention. This event coupled jogging competition to celebrate 20th anniversary of Denpasar city. It witnessed by Denpasar Mayor Ida Bagus Rai Dharma Wijaya Mantra. “The catching pig competition involved some people,” said the Head of Public Relation Department Denpasar, Dewa Gede Rai.

Any kinds of fun competitions held in Lumintang field but the catching pig race was mostly attracting people. This competition was allowing its participants to race their speed and agility. Committee used half competition system to find the champion.

Each participant fought one by one to catch a pig in a 70 square meters area. Since Saturday night (4/2) Denpasar city got rain that made Lumintang field wet. The wet field made the competition getting attractive due to the participant and the pig were full of mud. The competition was also including three committees as the bugger so the pig was getting more difficult to catch.

The head of Husbandry and Animal Health Department Bali Putu Sumantra in Denpasar on Thursday said his region now has more than 330,000 pigs stock. Each pig weighing about 100 kg as they are enough to fulfill Galungan Day demand. Years ago Galungan day was requiring pigs from other areas such as East Java.

“But now Bali is not selling pigs anymore due to the current stock is focusing to regional stock. In the other side pig population from outer area is decreasing,” said him. According to Putu Sumantra, his region now is able to send pork for South Sulawesi. The stock of 330,000 pigs is equal with 18,510 tons pork, said him.

Amurva Bhumi Monastery priest, Chua Sing Liang said the noodle offering formed our wish to beg long age, safety and prosperity in our life. In the other side the twelve kinds of food is dominated by local crops due to in China, Chinese New Year at first celebrated by farmers.

Besides the twelve foods, there are red cup cakes. The sweet cake is being a wish for happiness in our life. “The cake has been obligatory thing for whom did New Year pray in this monastery,” said him. He said Hindu believers from eight regencies and a city in Bali held “Jagra” which means the believers are not sleeping in Pura Besakih on Sunday night until dawn at Monday. The art performances are wayang, arja art and topeng bondres as they wished to deprive of sleepiness for Hindu believers who walking on ‘sleeping fasting’. First Lady Ani Yudhoyono admired the beauty of woven cloth gerinsing as local product of Tenganan, Bali when she reviewed ASEAN Fair in Bali International Convention Center (BICC). Woven cloth gerinsing exhibits in outlet of Rumah Pesona Kain (The Charming of Cloth House) which had joint some Indonesia cloth lovers.

Coordinator of Secretary Rumah Pesona Kain Ari Prastowati said first lady Ani Yudhoyono interested with gerinsing when she visited outlet of Rumah Pesona Kain. “She admiring gerinsing which was really beautiful due to it is using natural dye,” said her. Ari also explained gerinsing cloth is unique due to it had known as repellent of bad things amongst Balinese people. “Gerinsing cloth is sacred and it is difficult to make,” said him. He also explained gerinsing cloth now is only producing in three countries: Bali, India and Japan.

Rice field in Bali arranged well in producing rice while it is being natural scenery of certain attraction for foreigners from Holland. The fund aid then used to build colony cage, compost house and buy 20 cow seeds. Wayan Sumerta said Gapoktan Sawo Kabeh in his journey has not yet got serious problems even the cow seeds had succeeded to grow. Besides keeping cows, the members of Gapoktan have managing catfish embankment to result 120 kilogram catfish from the four embankments. The Head of Central Dwijendra Foundation Denpasar, Drs. Ida Bagus Gede Wiyana was giving dharma wacana to invite Hindu devotees in Dwijendra enjoying soft tone of gamelan piodalan as one form of Satwika Yadnya. He was even giving prize to go to Sea Games for free for students who can answer question about Satwika Yadnya. Ida Bagus Gede Wiyana said if we are doing yadnya with unclear heart, it called Tamasika Yadnya. If we have not a heart in the central of yadnya, we are only thinking to get some food after piodalan also deemed himself contributing biggest role in this yadnya. It called Rajasika Yadnya. Yadnya in Dwijendra, said him, is a honest yadnya that called Satwika Yadnya.

Further Ida Bagus Gede Wiyana said about seven elements of Satwika Yadnya. Firstly yadnya should base on Holly Weda. Second element is it should do by sincere heart. Third element is yadnya needs a leader. It called tri manggala yadnya. Tri manggala yadnya covers amuja (sulinggih), tapini (offerings artisan) and manggala karya. These three elements should unite while the fourth is offering fund and punia. The fifth element is panca githa (percussion, pesantian, bell, kekidungan yadnya and dances). The sixth one is Anasewa (attention and offerings). The last element is the absence of arrogance and harsh words that called naas mitha.

In the other side Ida Bagus Gede Wiyana said piodalan comes from word ‘wedal’ means born. In parahyangan Dwijendra, there is palinggih like padmasana, ratu penyarikan, ratu gede and others. It is fitted with Hindu religion principal as it named lingga-yoni. Lingga is a God (sit in palinggih) and yoni is ourselves. If purusa and predhana are not united, said him, human will not born. If parahyangan Dwijendra or merajan has not received people pray or canang, Hindu devotees will lose everything. It is the function of odalan. Palinggih will be only a stone if yoni is not doing anything. For those reasons, Dwijendra people asked not to hurry due to odalan. There are four elements in a piodalan. They are Dharma, Artha, Kama (a will of closing God) to reach Moskhartam Jagaditha ya Caiti Dharma.

He mentioned disabled athletes Bali had ever stayed in fourth biggest rank of national grade from 18 provinces of National Championship. It is amazing performance due to Bali is only sending nine disabled athletes for a national championship in Solo. Bali was only sending nine disabled athletes who were able to get 17 medals. The medals achievement is six gold medals, six silver medals and five bronze medals. They got fourth rank after their partners in Java: West Java, Central Java and East Java. He confessed the disabled kids in this region have big potential to be great athletes both national and international grades if we are caring about them.

“Young generation response to be Hindu Religion teacher is actually good enough as it marked by increasing students amount significantly in each universities in Bali for Hindu religion subject. Now we are only waiting the commitment of regional government,” said him. Suthayasa said the lack of religion teacher is not only happening in Bali but also in any provinces of Indonesia. Biggest need is in Bali especially for its elementary school.
