He stressed that government should focus on Subak. It production process should be accompanied with on-field agriculture instruction. Company of technology is also needed by subak. World acknowledgement toward subak must not stop with Bali patting chest and proud with the title while ignoring pain and cry of farmer.

Lecturer of Agriculture Faculty in Warmadewa University Ir. I.B. Komang Mahardika, M.Si. , said with the acknowledgment of Subak as world heritage, an effort to strengthening subak existence should occur. Irrigation channels existed needs quality improvement.

Government should also thought of subak legality. He viewed that Subak in Bali has yet having strong legal foundation, especially with notarial deed. In another area, agriculture irrigation institution though the name was not subak, they have legalization or notarial to strengthening their law foundation.

He added that leaders in Bali should be brave and stop change of function toward agriculture land, especially subak with every compensations given to farmer. This change of function cannot be ignored as it influencing productivity of food products in Bali. There were 169 students visiting the museum starting from elementary school, Junior and High school student. Besides, the yard is in a saddening condition too, where rubbish everywhere and the grass were high since no one tidying them. It is probably due to only five people who work there. This condition was also acknowledges by the museum coordinator I Gede Bagus Ketut Ari Susila. According to him, since it was officiated in 1994 the condition is always the same. Public visitor always low when compare to student who usually comes in-group in the middle of semester or in their final.

“They were told by the government, that from kindergarten to high school, any of them have camping activities to always coming here,” he said.

Ari explained that foreigner who came only do this for research. Several other visitors were only stopping by. Moreover, the location of this museum is somewhat hidden. He thought the museum has been once promoted but it somehow paralyzed. The museum want to promote through web but they have no computer to do this. “Do not talk about computer, we didn’t even have brochure for this museum,” he said.

In order to erase that slum image, Denpasar government has planned to arrange that area into a city park. This policy will force tens of people who live there with rental system to leave.

Contacted yesterday, Head of Kesiman Kertalangu village, I.B. Bima Putra justifies that spatial planning. He said that rundown houses at eastern part of Jalan Gatot Subroto are one of Denpasar Government targets to tidying all slum area in Denpasar. “This location is part of that arrangement program. Therefore, we and related institution in Denpasar such as Spatial and Housing Agency, Order and Discipline Agency as well as Public Order Police Squad observing the location for further arrangement program,” Bima Putra said.

According to Bima Putra also, the targeted lawn is belong to Mangku Muliarta. These days, on that land was built semi permanent building where many newcomers lives and rent the place. “In relation with this arrangement plan, we will do another meeting with related institution and the land owner to find solution and our technical approach,” he said.

Separated confirmation from the landowner, Mangku Muliarta confessed that he was willing to follow the government order and with the re-arrangement will be conducted on his land. However, his party is still asking for clearer explanation regarding that land. Whether or not he will be allowed to lives and build a house in that location. “I admitted that it has transformed into a slum area since there are so many rundown houses built here. I actually want to tidy it a bit but I have no fund to do it. If right now the government would like to tidy the land and it appears as an obligation, I have to follow the order,” he said.

In relation with this plan, Mangku Muliarta acknowledged that he has yet inform it to people who lives in that area. He believes that they will abide with the order if the time has come for them to leave. “If it is a must and I’m asking them to move, they should comply,” he said.

According to him, on 1.5 acre of land was build eight semi permanent houses rented to eight families. He rent it for IDR 50,000 per month as in total of IDR400,000 per month. “I use the money for my children educational fee,” he added.

Catching pig race held in Niti Praja Field, Lumintang, Denpasar on Sunday morning as it was attracting local people attention. This event coupled jogging competition to celebrate 20th anniversary of Denpasar city. It witnessed by Denpasar Mayor Ida Bagus Rai Dharma Wijaya Mantra. “The catching pig competition involved some people,” said the Head of Public Relation Department Denpasar, Dewa Gede Rai.

Any kinds of fun competitions held in Lumintang field but the catching pig race was mostly attracting people. This competition was allowing its participants to race their speed and agility. Committee used half competition system to find the champion.

Each participant fought one by one to catch a pig in a 70 square meters area. Since Saturday night (4/2) Denpasar city got rain that made Lumintang field wet. The wet field made the competition getting attractive due to the participant and the pig were full of mud. The competition was also including three committees as the bugger so the pig was getting more difficult to catch.

The head of Husbandry and Animal Health Department Bali Putu Sumantra in Denpasar on Thursday said his region now has more than 330,000 pigs stock. Each pig weighing about 100 kg as they are enough to fulfill Galungan Day demand. Years ago Galungan day was requiring pigs from other areas such as East Java.

“But now Bali is not selling pigs anymore due to the current stock is focusing to regional stock. In the other side pig population from outer area is decreasing,” said him. According to Putu Sumantra, his region now is able to send pork for South Sulawesi. The stock of 330,000 pigs is equal with 18,510 tons pork, said him.
