In his speech during a seminar titled Seeking for Opportunities behind Global Crisis conducted in relation to presentation of K Nada Nugraha Award 2009, the Chairman of Bali Business Chamber, Gede Wiratha, has expressed his concern about Bali tourism with regard to environmental issues especially in coastal area. Toll Road is not Possible to be Build in Bali

Promise declared by Vice President Jusuf Kalla as the President of Golkar political party on his speech in front of its members to do his best to make construction of toll road in Bali possible seems to be difficult to be fulfilled. Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika said that it is not possible to build a toll road in Bali. “how can we build a toll road between Serangan Island and Tanjung Benoa if the distance is only 400 meters long?” Pastika said on Sunday (December 4th) in Denpasar. Runway of Bali Airport will not be Extended

Controversial talks about relocation of Ngurah Rai Bali International Airport ended on Saturday, January 3rd, when Intonesian Vice President, Jusuf Kalla announced the decision that Ngurah Rai Airport will be expanded in its original location. The expansion which is predicted to take 1.2 trillion Rupiah will be completed within the next two years. (more…)

Yacht Drawn at Bali Sea

A yacht carrying 35 foreign tourists, 5 domestic tourists, and 4 crews was drawn on its trip between Gili Trawangan, a tiny resort island next to Lombok, and Serangan, a small island close to Bali south-east coast. The yacht drawn off the coast of Klungkung, near Watu Klotok temple, on Friday (January 2nd). Everybody on board was survive either by themselves and with help from local fishermen. (more…)

New Year Celebrations in Bali

New years celebration in Bali last night (Wednesday, December 31st) has been a lot more colorful than last year, especially because of the weather. The year changing night was cloudy, compared to heavy rain last year. Kuta has been the most sought after place. Crowd of foreigners, domestic tourists, and local residents flocked into the island’s most popular beach spot resulting in traffic congestions all around. Kuta beach which has been flooded by tourists during the year end peak holiday period was completely packed. (more…)

Access to Kuta Beach will be Closed

Traffic heading to Kuta Beach will be temporarily closed on Wednesday (December 31th) starting at 17.00 local time. The closure is intended to ensure confortability for those spending their New Year moment on Kuta Beach. Traffic Department of Denpasar Police Headquarter will also clean up Jalan Pantai Kuta and Jalan Legian from parking vehicles to aviod potential traffic congestion in the area, so everybody spending their New Year moment there will not be troubled. Badung Government Calls for Airport Relocation to Serangan Island

The government of Badung foresees difficulties in implementing expansion of Ngurah Rai Bali International Airport as suggested by the national House of Representative. It is almost impossible to expand the airport towards residential area as it will face rejection by local residents. Deputy Regent, Sudikerta, suggests relocation of the airport to Serangan considering its strategic location between Badung and Denpasar. (more…)

5,493 Hectares of Forest Destructed in Amlapura

Width of critical land has reached 23,453 hectares, whilst 5,493 hectares of protected forest at Pempatan, Rendang have been severely destructed by illegal logging since reformation era started in 1999,” said the Regent of Karangasem, I Wayan Geredeg in Monday (December 22nd).
